It’s hard to believe that The Music Zoo has been serving up the world’s best guitars for 25 years – but it’s true! Since our humble beginnings in a small storefront on Northern Boulevard in Queens to our second showroom in Roslyn and all the way up to our newest location in Farmingdale…the focus of The Music Zoo has always been to bring musicians the best guitars, basses, amplifiers, and effects to help them create their music and build their collections of gear!
To celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we teamed up with the Fender Custom Shop to create five guitars of which we’re possibly known for best: the Ultimate Relic Stratocaster. We chose five Fender Custom Shop Master Builders with whom we’ve worked with closely over the years to all build their version of an Ultimate Relic 1962 Stratocaster in the quintessential 3-tone sunburst finish. Greg Fessler, Todd Krause, Jason Smith, Dale Wilson and John Cruz all poured their talents into each of their instruments, and it’s a great exercise in seeing each builders favored relic techniques.
This Dale Wilson Strat is a masterpiece of Dales unique aging where the guitars finish is worn down to an incredibly thin layer, and the paint starts to sink into the wood grain just like a 60 year old instruments finish would! The guitar is loaded with Custom Shop ’60 Strat pickups, a round lam rosewood fretboard, medium jumbo frets and a 9.5″ radius for a modern Stratocaster feel. Each guitar also has a special commemorative neckplate laser etched with The Music Zoo’s logo!
